Computer Locks Up (Pentium II based machines):

Turn off of your system and disconnect the scanner from the back of the computer. The scanner works best with the parallel port set to I/O 378h and EPP. Below is a list of some systems and the recommended settings that the scanner should be set at.

After the BIOS is set for the correct address (378) and mode (EPP) make sure you save your changes and let Windows come up and the edit the SYSTEM.INI file.


Editing the SYSTEM.INI file in Windows 95:


1. Click on the START button.
2. Click on RUN.
3. Type SYSTEM.INI and click on OK.
4. Click on SEARCH
5. Click on FIND
6. Type ScannerParameters and press ENTER. (Please note that there is no space between Scanner and Parameters)
7. Add the following lines below the [ScannerParameters] section:

Port_ChipType=17
Port_Mode=0

8. Click on FILE
9. Click on SAVE.
10. Click on FILE.
11. Click on EXIT.
12. Click on START
13. Click on SHUTDOWN
14. Click on OK

Now that your computer is shut down reconnect the scanner and turn your system back on. Your computer should no longer lock up on startup. If it does or you do not understand how to do anypart of this document please give our Technical Support Department a call for a walkthrough @ 925-453-8911.
